Komodo Vs. Cobra - Who cares if it's not original? I don't!

Komodo Vs Cobra Komodo Vs Cobra

Check out the cool "Alien Vs. Predator" style font they totally ripped off for Komodo Vs. Cobra! Right off the bat you know this is going to be awful! *Insert maniacal giggles here*

Alright, I know this is just a variation of a theme that probably started with Animal Face Off from Discovery Channel, morphed into the Alien Vs Predator movies, and culminated (at least for me) with Boa Vs. Python. So what? Good cheese is good cheese!

Let's see, what does this movie have that enthralls me so? Half-hearted script, acting that never quite reaches the point where you could say 'hey, that actor/actress has potential!', CGI that at least looks like what it's supposed to look like, but still looks like it was stolen from a video game, or a Discovery Channel special, and Rod McCary. Yes, Rod McCary is the biggest name they were able to get for this flick, but god bless them for trying. (And if you don't know who Rod McCary is, just go look him up on IMDB, you young whippersnapper.)

Unlike some other 'not so original' movies, I actually watched the entire thing, and rarely flinched. Yes, the acting is sub-par, but they at least gathered a cast that clicked a bit. The script is trite and hackneyed, but the actors and actresses deliver their lines as if this could be their big break. Somewhere the director must have been promising them on-the-set visits from Sam Raimi or Oliver Stone, or something. Whatever the trick, it worked. I was actually engaged in their plight to escape an island overrun by military-created monsters. Not to the point I'd write fan fiction, or anything, but I didn't walk out of the room to get a refill of my coffee unless I paused the DVR. That's a glowing commendation from me.

I recommend this to anyone else with an appreciation for fine B-grade cinema. It's a movie you can sit back and enjoy, feeling just a little guilty about how much you laugh your way through the 'tragedy', and knowing your brain won't hurt with trying to follow what they call a plot. In the 'creature vs creature' genre, this is one of the good ones!
