Monster Ark on Sci-Fi this Saturday: a.k.a. "Poor Renee O'Connor"

Monster Ark premieres this Saturday, August 9th, 2008 on the Sci-Fi Channel. This is another of their often awful, sometimes hilarious, 'not so original' movies. I, for one, am looking forward to it with my usual zeal. My DVR is programmed and waiting!
I feel badly for Renee O'Connor, though. The last thing I saw her was in was Alien Apocalypse with the demigod of all that is 'B', Bruce Campbell. I adore Bruce Campbell, but not even I could get through that one. *shudder* Now, I can read on IMDB that Ms. O'Connor has done other things since then, but if Monster Ark is the highest notch she can put on the bedpost of her resume, I don't think things are going well for her. I hope those Xena conventions pay well.
Of course, maybe Monster Ark will shock us all and be the next cult classic. Maybe the banter and chemistry among the cast will engage us at a level not seen since Clerks. Maybe the F/X will be so realistic, so skillfully and lovingly crafted, that we'll believe they were actually there with those monsters on that ark. Maybe... But then again, to quote Mr. Campbell in one of his more infamous roles: "Yeah, and maybe I'm a Chinese jet pilot."
Whatever the case, I'll naturally watch it. The potential for a really bad (in the right way) movie has a greater gravitational pull for me than a black hole. So stay tuned this weekend for my unrequested opinion of Monster Ark!
